Tuesday 12 April
Reg is out leafleting when John Miller walks in the door on spec. John's son was killed with Reg's and they're clearly very close. He works just across the road from our HQ, though lives outside the constituency, and I think he will be a great support to Reg during the campaign.
I realise how little idea I have of what is really going on on the ground here - Reg and his team come back from time to time, always very positive about the responses they've had, and posters and leaflets mysteriously appear, and then disappear.
We decide to do the Blair Challenge gig tomorrow, exactly a week from our launch, and I ring the agencies as can't get a press release out without internet connection. Reminds me of the days before internet, before fax machines even, when my press releases were sent by post.
Reg dictates the challenge letter, which I am to take home and print out - must remember to email a copy to Agent Bob for him to print, in case my car breaks down on the way to Trimdon tomorrow.
Get home 8.30 and print the letter and send some releases anyway. Then sort out stuff for the website, which is beginning to take shape.
